Technology Consulting and Project / Program Manager (Pre-Sales for Major Manufacturer) for a multi-site SAP Hosting data center consolidation, relocation and vendor migration for a major international consumer products company based in New York with Global operations.The client is switching hosting vendors, changing venues, consolidating sites, performing a SAN and Server tech refresh / virtualization and executing a full IT outsource deal.Performing Program management across all technology towers, (1000+ Servers wintel & unix) operational, data migration and san-storage (~500TB) assessments for operational optimization and risk mitigation.Inserted to the Pre-Sales team to assess the client’s storage complex, I was quickly able to develop a SAN Storage strategy proposal for the client.This proposal included multi-site SAN storage, data replication strategy, tools, software and services and risk mitigation.Worked with client’s numerous US, Belgium and UK operations to assess infrastructure consolidation and virtualization options while formulating a methodology for site and data migration in-country. Presented proposal & persuaded client (as an Infrastructure Executive, I had immediate credibility) on proposal that reduced their run-rate, mitigated risk while enabling the transition.

Rebuilt the corporate data centers, network infrastructure as well as the corporate desktop PC platforms; my mission was to attract, motivate and retain a new staff (3X in size to 86+, in 8 states since my arrival), develop a comprehensive set of strategies, processes and methods / procedures for infrastructure & data center operations.  Established a new departmental Lifecycle Process of Plan, Implement & Run to get the new IT support organization once again providing critical data center, network services and platform support to the many lines of businesses.  This included assessing and implementing Change Management-Change Control.

Established networking and systems standards for the infrastructure, reliable user desktops and Change Management in the data center and Internet / Intranet security.  Began an ITIL adoption program for Infrastructure.  Responsibility for communications, and information security supporting 85+ sites and 6,500 employees \ users.  Extensive relationship management and negotiation skills with technology partners and internal business clients.  Manage staff of 90 with $30+ million in operating and capital budgets, reporting to the CIO.

Major Achievements:

  • Generated annual $1mm savings w/ the establishment of a Consolidated Corporate Data Center - Shared Services processing, storage and global network operations.
  • Employing Agile Methodology, Consolidated and Virtualized SQL, App, Web & Citrix servers to Blades / VMWare. Achieved > 20:1 compression - footprint and a centralized consolidation platform for all Windows SQL servers. >$1mm savings
  • Delivered HA Processing Infrastructure for Oracle (ERP) on HPUX / Unix. 
  • Envisioned and built a corporate, standards - based global IP/MPLS (Wan/Lan/Man) & Windows Active Directory network.  QOS & COS implemented to optimize for VOIP and improved performance for key applications and Call Centers leverage.
  • Led Infrastructure Group to a certified "Best in Class" by Gartner Benchmark Study
  • Designed & deployed standard desktop technology standards & platforms, delivering superior service levels, automated software updates / security patching, remote management and metrics performance resulting in reduced delivery costs and increased time to market.

Redesigned and deployed all of Equitable's Insurance / Annuity product-line network infrastructures and data center client- servers (~200) integrating state-of-the-art technology as Equitable invested in their technology future. Implemented a management information architecture across all of Equitable's computing environments, integrating across all product lines - 8000 nodes. The targeted disciplines: Enterprise Help Desk, Software Delivery, Asset Inventory, Enterprise-Wide Event Management, Systems and Network Management. 

Evolved a new network architecture (Cisco IP framework) to support the burgeoning client server requirements in the data center.  Designed and implemented a new business-driven WAN / LAN infrastructure & server farm for Equitable's Agency network in order to support the new Agent's Workstation (5000).  This included the design, testing, implementation and management of a nation-wide network of over 130 routers and 200 servers.  Designed and developed a modern, state-of-the-art data center / network operations center equipped and staffed with the latest tools (OpenView) and 7X24 staff.  Re-engineered the department's Lifecycle by implementing a Plan, Implement, & Run management style as well as reconstructing the data communications business to prepare for the client server evolution.
